Nritya Angan — The Dance Courtyard — is a Kathak dance school in McKinney, Texas, dedicated to preserving and sharing one of India's most celebrated classical art forms. Our name evokes the traditional courtyard where dance has always flourished: an open, welcoming space where artistry, discipline, and community come together.
Kathak is one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance, born in the temples and courts of northern India. It is distinguished by intricate footwork, graceful spins, expressive hand gestures, and rhythmic storytelling — a dance that speaks equally to the eyes and the heart.
At Nritya Angan we offer structured and personalized learning so that every student can build a strong classical foundation while discovering their own unique artistic voice.
Kathak for every age and level
Our classes follow the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (ABGMVM) Kathak curriculum, providing systematic training from foundational tatkar, abhinaya to advanced compositions.
Every dancer is unique. We tailor our teaching to each student's pace, strengths, and sensibility — nurturing individual expression within the classical form.
Engaging, age-appropriate classes for children ages 6 and up. Young dancers build coordination, confidence, focus, and a lifelong love of classical dance.
It is never too late to begin. Our adult classes welcome both beginners and those returning to dance in a warm, encouraging, and inspiring environment.
